Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Jan. 7 - Ovechkin Returns

The Caps were on ice this morning for practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex as they prepare for tomorrow night's tilt with the Florida Panthers at Verizon Center.  Some updates from the skate this morning:

Alex Ovechkin participated fully in practice after being a limited participant yesterday because of a cortisone shot that he received in his left arm.  The cortisone injection prohibited him from handling the puck for two days.  Ovechkin skated on the right side of a line with Brooks Laich on his opposite wing and Marcus Johansson in the middle and is expected to play tomorrow night.

Matt Hendricks and Mathieu Perreault both also returned to practice as full participants.  They skated on the fourth line alongside Dave Steckel, with DJ King also taking reps with that unit.  Jay Beagle has been bumped up to the third line at his more natural center position, playing between Eric Fehr and Jason Chimera.

Boyd Gordon and Matt Bradley both skated before practice with the Caps' strength and conditioning coach.  Bradley is recovering from a broken finger and Gordon is recovering from a foot infection that required stitches.  Neither is expected to make their return tomorrow night.

More if it becomes available.
