Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Capitals Select Patrick Koudys 147th Overall

The Washington Capitals have drafted defenseman Patrick Koudys with the 147th overall selection in this year's NHL Entry Draft. Koudys is from Smithville, Ontario, Canada, and spent this past year playing for the RPI Redhawks.  He is listed by RPI's website as 6-4, 210, and will certainly bring some punch to the organization.  In 31 games for the Redhawks this year, Koudys had one goal, two assists, and 14 penalty minutes.
I like this pick.  It adds Canadian blood at a position of need in the organization deep in the draft, pretty much exactly what you are looking for in the fifth round. It looks as though he may eventually develop into a Scott Hannan-type player; a big, physical, tough defenseman who does all the little things well.
