Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Capitals Select Steffen Soberg 117th Overall

The Washington Capitals have drafted goaltender Steffen Soberg with the 117th overall selection in this year's NHL Entry Draft.  Soberg is from Oslo, Norway, and was regarded as the seventh best goaltender available in the draft. He had a 4.17 GAA and a .884 save percentage to go along with five wins in 27 games last year in Norway's GET-Ligaen. Surely these are not impressive numbers in Norway. They can't be.  Right?
Soberg may be well regarded by some, the fact that the Caps already have four goalies in their system makes this pick rather silly to me.  Washington does not need goalies, they need role players and defensemen.  I guess we'll need to get them later in the draft.  More to come on this.
