Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Dec. 30

The Capitals were on ice for practice this morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex as they prepare for the Winter Classic.  The Caps are planning on flying to Pittsburgh this afternoon and then practice tomorrow on the outdoor ice sheet (if the weather cooperates).

Nothing new to report from practice other than Matt Bradley worked out on ice before practice by himself. Brads is recovering from a broken finger and is not expected to play this weekend.  All of the forwards and defensemen skated today that skated yesterday as well, so the team is finally beginning to gain some health momentum.  That's a good sign for the rest of the year.

As for the weather, it is beginning to look more and more like the game will be played on Sunday.  The forecast now calls for 80% chance of rain with 48 degree temperatures on Saturday, clearly impossible playing conditions.  However, the NHL and NBC have maintained that the game will be played on Saturday if it is "humanly possible."  Hopefully the hockey gods have their way over mother nature for this one.

More later.
