Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau responded to his team's mediocre and lackluster play over the last week at practice this afternoon the old fashioned way: a bag skate. Caps players spent the first 30 minutes of practice today with no pucks as they participated in skating and conditioning drills. Eric Fehr was out on the ice in a gold no-contact jersey, but did not take reps with any of the lines. Tom Poti did not make the trip and is not expected to join the team out west, buy may play next Sunday in Buffalo.
Boudreau also shuffled his top three lines for practice, taking Alexander Semin off the top line and putting him on the second unit with Marcus Johansson and Brooks Laich. Mike Knuble took Sasha's spot on the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin, and Jason Chimera is now skating alongside Mathieu Perreault and Matt Hendricks on the third line. The four-man fourth line remained the same: DJ King, Boyd Gordon, Dave Steckel, and Matt Bradley.
That's all for now. Check back later.

Welcome!
Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!
