The Capitals were out for practice at 11 AM this morning as they prepare for tomorrow night's crucial division clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:
All of the healthy Caps were on ice for a full practice today, as Alex Ovechkin and Semyon Varlamov both returned to the fold after maintenance days yesterday. Alexander Semin practiced on the second line again, alongside Brooks Laich and Mathieu Perreault. Jason Chimera moved to the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and Ovechkin, which means that Mike Knuble was bumped to the third line. That unit practiced with 4 men: Knuble, Marcus Johansson, Matt Hendricks, and Jay Beagle. The fourth line also practiced with 4: Matt Bradley, DJ King, David Steckel, and Boyd Gordon.
After practice, however, Bruce Boudreau would not commit to Semin going on the road trip, let alone him playing Friday night. This seems kind of ridiculous, as Sasha has now practiced fully for four consecutive days, and Bruce Boudreau said that he was "optimistic" that he would play yesterday after practice. This is getting excessively annoying; Semin better be damn near unstoppable when he finally does hit the ice for game action again.
The Caps are enroute to Dulles Airport right now and will charter to Tampa later this afternoon. Tomorrow night's game is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
Welcome!
Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!
