The Capitals were on ice this morning at 11 AM as they prepare to take on the Los Angeles Kings in a big inter-conference matchup tomorrow afternoon at Verizon Center. Some personnel notes from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:
All four forward lines remained unchanged, which means that Alexander Semin remained on the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. The other three units are as follows: Laich-Perreault-Chimera, Knuble-Johansson-Hendricks, and Steckel-Gordon-Bradley. DJ King again took reps on the fourth line, but he is not expected to play tomorrow and will likely be a healthy scratch for the sixth consecutive game.
Mike Green took a full practice, and Bruce Boudreau said that he was confident that the rearguard will make his return to active duty tomorrow. Green said he felt good, and his presence will be key to the Capitals' chances at a Division crown down the stretch. His return means that Tyler Sloan will return to the press box as a healthy scratch.
Eric Fehr and Tom Poti also participated in practice, although Fehr was still wearing his gold no-contact jersey during the skate. Neither will play tomorrow, but Boudreau said that is was likely that "at least" one of them would accompany the team on their upcoming west coast road trip. Whether they will play, however, remains to be seen.
That's all for now. Check back later.
Welcome!
Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!
