Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Mar. 28

The Washington Capitals were on ice Wednesday for an optional practice following their 5-1 beatdown at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres.  Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

Only four players took to the ice for the skate: Nicklas Backstrom, Joel Ward, Tomas Vokoun, and Jeff Halpern.  It seems a curious message to send; not only have an optional skate but also only have only four players on the ice the day after such a bad loss.  Dale Hunter, however, said it was to "save the legs" because "it's like playoff hockey out there."  Oookay then.  Moving on.
The one piece of good news out of Arlington Wednesday was that Backstrom will accompany his teammates on the trip to Boston for the game Thursday.  He will not, however, play.  The good news remains that he is progressing and a return is getting closer by the day.

That's all for now.  As always, follow me on Twitter here for news and updates.
