Michal Neuvirth returned to the ice for the start of practice, but left after 20 minutes of participating in drills with his teammates. Bruce Boudreau did say that the goaltender was "sore," but would not provide any more information. The goaltender would, however, saying that he has a bruise on the top of his right foot from getting hit by a shot and is in "a lot of pain." Dany Sabourin has also been reassigned to Hershey of the AHL, which could (could) mean that Neuvy is nearing a return. We'll see.
The top three lines from Saturday night's win remained the same: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer, Semin-Johansson-Knuble, and Ward-Laich-Chimera. DJ King, who played on Saturday to much chagrin, took rushes as an extra forward while Mathieu Perreault took his spot on the fourth line with Matt Hendricks and Jeff Halpern. Jay Beagle did not practice again because of the injuries he sustained when Arron Asham
John Erskine continued practicing regularly; the big defenseman is working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery. No date has been set for his return.
That's all for today. Check back later tonight for my Caps/Panthers preview.
Thanks to Brian McNally for info in this post.
