Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates From the Morning Skate

The Washington Capitals were on ice this morning at 10 AM at Kettler Capitals Iceplex as they prepare for tonight's season opener with the Carolina Hurricanes.  Some updates from Arlington:
Marcus Johansson will be a healthy scratch tonight; he will be replaced in the second line center role by Mathieu Perreault, who will skate alongside Alex Semin and Troy Brouwer.  Jeff Halpern also did not skate because he is observing Yom Kiuppur; he will be in his regular fourth line role tonight with Matt Hendricks and Jay Beagle.  The other lines were Ovcehkin-Backstrom-Knuble and Ward-Laich-Chimera.
Dennis Wideman did not skate, presumably because of a maintenance day, but is, for now, expected to suit up tonight with Jeff Schultz.  Both other defense pairings stayed the same from yesterday.
Michal Neuvirth was first off ice and will start the game as expected.
That's all for now.  Follow me on Twitter here for all your needs before, during, and after the game.
