Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Around the NHL: Top Dogs In the East

The Washington Capitals clinched the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs tonight when the Buffalo Sabres knocked off the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime.  The Flyers were winning the game late but Buffalo was able to tie and then Thomas Vanek scored on a breakaway to take the game for the Sabres.  With their win, the Sabres clinch a playoff spot.
Elsewhere, the Hurricanes spanked the Thrashers 6-1 to push the Rangers to brink of elimination from the playoff race.  Both Tuomo Ruutu and Jeff Skinner had three point nights and Cam Ward shut the door with 18 saves to secure the win.  Their win means that if they win again tomorrow night against a Lightning team locked into the fifth seed in the east, they are in and the Rangers are done.  Which means that the Caps will open the playoffs against the Hurricanes.  How about them apples?
