The Washington Capitals were on ice earlier today at 11:30 AM for their morning skate as they prepare to take on the Maple Leafs tonight. Some updates from the Air Canada Centre:
The big news out of the morning skate today is that Alexander Semin stayed at home and did not make the trip to Toronto; he will not play tonight. He is said to be resting a nagging injury (read: wrist), and there is no word as to if he will return tomorrow night. Bruce Boudreau did indicate, however, that if tonight was a playoff game, he would play. Matt Hendricks will return from being a healthy scratch to fill his lineup spot.
Michal Neuvirth has been confirmed as the starter in goal. This will be his third consecutive start and third of the year against Toronto.
John Erskine will return to the lineup tonight, pushing Tyler Sloan to be a healthy scratch. Sean Collins will retain his lineup spot after a solid game against the Sabres. He and Erskine will be paired together. Aside from Sloan, DJ King and Jay Beagle will be the healthy scratches for Bruce Boudreau.
That's all for now. Check back after the game.
Welcome!
Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!
