Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates From the Morning Skate

The Washington Capitals were on ice earlier today at 10 AM for their morning skate as they prepare to take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight at Verizon Center.  Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

The only Capital who did not skate this morning was Dennis Wideman, who is still in the hospital with hematoma.  After practice, Bruce Boudreau indicated that Wideman is feeling better, but he will not be able to join the team at Kettler until the middle of next week at the earliest to start his rehab.  There is obviously no timetable for his return.
John Erskine took the morning practice, but will not play tonight against the Sabres.  He is feeling better, and he indicated that he felt that could go, but the Caps will aim for Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs instead.  To take his place, defenseman Sean Collins has been recalled from AHL Hershey and will get the call tonight alongside Tyler Sloan.
Michal Neuvirth has been confirmed as the starter in goal.  This will be his second start in a row.
Lastly, Matt Hendricks will be the healthy scratch tonight as Bruce Boudreau searches for his optimal line combinations and gives rest to players.  Eric Fehr will return as a result.

That's all for now.  Check back after the game.
