Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Apr. 12

The Washington Capitals were on ice this morning at 10:30 for a practice as they prepare for tomorrow night's opening playoff game. Some notes from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

Michal Neuvirth has been confirmed as tomorrow night's game one starter.  I'm not touching this any more in terms of opinions.  It is what it is, and I hope we ride him to the chalice.  Moving on...
Mike Green participated fully in practice again, taking regular shifts with the penalty kill and power play units.  After practice, he called himself ready to go, and said that "nothing would keep him out."  Bruce Boudreau, however, would not commit, calling him a game-time decision.  And so, we wait.
The lines from yesterday remained the same: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Knuble, Sturm-Arnott-Semin, Laich-Johansson-Chimera, Hendricks-Gordon-Bradley, and Fehr-Beagle-King.  Also of note in terms of line combinations is that Bruce Boudreau will run five forwards out there on his first team power play to start the series.  Oh, boy.  What could possibly go wrong?
Tom Poti skated again but it is not known if he will be able to return before the end of the first round.  Dennis Wideman is still missing from practice.

That's all for now.  In other reading from 24/7 today, I break down the first round series with the Rangers.
Information from Sky Kerstein was used in this post.

  1. Reports are that Wideman finally got released from the hospital either yesterday or today.

Hope to see Green back tomorrow.
