Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates From the Morning Skate

The Washington Capitals were on ice this morning at 11 AM for an optional skate as they prepare for tonight's game against the Florida Panthers.  Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

Mike Green skated again during the optional practice, but he will not play tonight. He is expected to play Saturday night, though, and Bruce Boudreau revealed that he has been symptom-free for three weeks now, excellent news. The Capitals are merely playing it safe with their star defenseman.
Semyon Varlamov has been confirmed as tonight's starter in goal for the Capitals. He was first off the ice.
Tyler Sloan will return to the fold tonight, pushing Sean Collins to the press box.
Alexander Semin is a game time decision with what many believe to be a wrist injury, though he did skate this morning.  It remains to be seen and is totoally up in the air who would sit if Semin comes back.  Jay Beagle and DJ King are healthy scratches tonight.
Tom Poti skated before the rest of the team, but likely will not play before the end of the regular season as he continues to work back from a groin injury.  Ugh.

That's all for now.  Check back after the game.
