Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Around the NHL: Epic Toronto Fail

The Capitals were not helped out at all tonight by their friends from the north, as the Tampa Bay Lightning rode into the Air Canada Centre and stomped on the Toronto Maple Leafs by a final score of 6-2.  The Bolts never trailed and were only tied after the start of the game once, at 1-1.  With their win, Tampa pulls within one point of the Capitals for first place in the Southeast Division with 87 points.  Both teams have played 70 games, which means that the Capitals' lead is still what I like to call "game proof" - no matter the outcome of the next game for both teams, Washington will still be winning the Division.  With the Capitals about to embark on their brutal six-game road trip, this would have been a huge game for the Leafs to pull out, but they unfortunately did in fact turn back into pumpkins following their recent surge.  Sigh.  Caps fans, this makes tomorrow night's game that much more important.  Buckle up.
