Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates From the Morning Skate

The Capitals were on ice earlier today at 11 AM in Montreal for their morning skate as they prepare to face the Canadiens tonight.  Some updates from the Bell Centre:

Jason Arnott is not on the trip and will not play tonight nor in any of the next three games.  This is supposedly to rest an old injury, as George McPhee is confident in the fact that Washington will make the playoffs.  His injury is undisclosed and is classified as "week-to-week."
To make up for Arnott's absence, Jay Beagle will return to the fold for Washington and center the third line between Eric Fehr and Jason Chimera.  The other lines will be as follows: Ovechkin-Laich-Semin, Sturm-Johansson-Knuble, and Hendricks-Gordon-Bradley.  Braden Holtby has been confirmed as the starting goaltender; he will face Carey Price.
Nicklas Backstrom, Tom Poti, and DJ King, and Semyon Varlamov all worked out with the Capitals' assistaint coaches after the regular morning skate, and none of them will be in action tonight.  Of note here is that Tyler Sloan did not stay out late, so he may play, although it is not known who he would potentially replace due to injury.

That's all for now.  Be sure to check out my goalie situation analysis and preview of tonight's game as well.  Check back after the game.

Information from Mike Vogel was used in this post.

  1. Should be an interesting game. As i have throughout this season, I wonder why BB moved BL21 up and MJ90 back. Anyway, I can't wait!
