Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates from Detroit

The Washington Capitals were on ice earlier today for their optional morning skate as they prepare to take on the Detroit Red Wings this evening.  Some updates from Joe Louis Arena:

According to Capitals senior writer Mike Vogel, Michal Neuvirth has been confirmed as the starter for tonight's game.  This will be Neuvirth's first start since March 7th, when he allowed one goal on seven shots before being replaced Braden Holtby due to an eye injury.
Nicklas Backstrom is not expected to play with his broken thumb, his fifth consecutive contest on the sidelines.  He may return for Friday night's game in New Jersey.
Neither Eric Fehr nor John Erskine will play tonight as well.  Fehr aggravated his shoulder injury last night and Erskine has the flu.  That means that Tyler Sloan will remain in the lineup and DJ King will be given a sweater and play on the fourth line.  Line combinations will be known closer to game time.

That's all for now.  Check back after the game.
