Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Mar. 12

The Washington Capitals were on ice earlier today for a practice following their 2-1 win over  the Carolina Hurricanes last night at Verizon Center.  Some updates from a packed Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

For the second consecutive practice, everyone currently with the Capitals skated.  Nicklas Backstrom, who is working his way back from a broken thumb and has missed the last two games, still has his hard cast on, and skated in an orange no-contact jersey.  He partook in drills, but was not a member on a line.  On the back end, Mike Green skated with the rest of his team for regular practice for the third consecutive session, certainly an encouraging sign.  Tom Poti also took the full practice with the rest of the team, and appears to be drawing very close to his return.  All three goalies were on ice as well, including Semyon Varlamov, though Varly also worked out alone with goalie coach Arturs Irbe before practice started and then left the ice 15 minutes through practice.  The Lines were as follows: Ovechkin-Johansson-Knuble, Semin-Arnott-Sturm, Chimera-Laich-Fehr-Beagle, and Hendricks-Gordon-Bradley-King.

That's all for now.  Remember tomorrow's game is a matinee 12:30 PM start, and the game will be broadcast nationwide by NBC.

Thanks to Sky Kerstein for information in this post.
