Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Updates From the Morning Skate

The Capitals were on ice at 11 AM for their morning skate as they prepare for their critical matchup with the Lightning this evening.  Some updates from the St. Pete Times Forum:

Mike Green took the skate in full pads, but is still nowhere near returning.  Afterwords, he indicated that he does not "feel quite right," even though he is feeling a little bit better. This is the wise approach; the Capitals want, and need, Green to be nothing short of 100% when he takes to the ice next for them.  It looks like Jeff Schultz will be re-inserted into the lineup after being a healthy scratch last night as well; Tyler Sloan had a tough go of it yesterday in the lineup and will return to the press box.  Marcus Johansson is feeling no aftereffects of the shot that be blocked with his leg last night, and is also good to go.  That means that DJ King and Jay Beagle will remain scratches on the front end.  Michal Neuvirth is still in line to start tonight's game.

That's all for now.  Check back after the game.  And for a gameday preview of tonight's game, click here.

Thanks to Katie Carrera for information used in this post.

  1. Glad to hear Mike was back on the ice, hopefully he will be 100% before the playoffs and get some games in to get back in the swing of things.
